Sometimes, all you need is a little enchantment to bid farewell to one chapter of life and embrace the next with excitement. Just before our move to South Carolina, my significant other and I decided to indulge in a glamping adventure at Enchanted Oaks Farm in Ocala, FL. Nestled within an 8-acre farm, this A-frame glamping structure promised a unique experience surrounded by nature and farm animals. As we embarked on our picturesque escape, we discovered a world of tranquility and serenity, making it a memorable and magical journey before our upcoming relocation.
A Rustic Dream: The A-Frame Glamping Structure
As we arrived at Enchanted Oaks Farm, the A-frame glamping structure instantly captured our hearts. Perched near a small lake, one side of the structure could be lifted to create an open-air experience, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. The picturesque scene was perfect for Instagram-worthy snapshots, and we couldn't resist capturing the magic of the moment.
A Menagerie of Farm Animals
The farm's charm extended beyond the glamping structure, as it was home to a delightful array of farm animals. From zebras to goats, the farm presented a mini-safari of its own. In the morning, we were greeted by a friendly bunny hopping about, adding an extra dose of cuteness to our glamping experience.
Cozy Quarters and Bathroom Facilities
Inside the A-frame glamping structure, we found cozy quarters with a fan, queen size bed, soft sheets, and a few bug friends. While it offered basic amenities, it allowed us to disconnect from our busy lives and immerse ourselves in the serene surroundings. The farm also provided bathroom facilities within a short walking distance, ensuring our comfort during the stay. The bathrooms offered running water and a functioning toilet. They also provided a shower, which we did not end up using.
The glamping experience wasn't without its quirks. As night fell, we slept with the door open to relish the gentle breeze and immerse ourselves in the soothing sounds of nature. However, being close to a highway meant that the traffic sounds could be a bit loud at times. Also, since the structure only provided a fan and no A/C, we needed air flow and the cool evening / morning breeze to sleep soundly.
Moreover, the structure's compact size proved challenging for my significant other as he occasionally hit his head. However, it brought some laughs and reminded us to embrace the coziness of our temporary abode. Dressing and undressing posed a challenge as well trying to avoid the windblown curtains while attempting to not flash the other glampers.
Exploring Silver Springs State Park
While Enchanted Oaks Farm was an enchanting haven, we couldn't resist exploring the nearby Silver Springs State Park. The park's iconic glass-bottom boat tours allowed us to marvel at the stunning underwater landscapes and abundant wildlife. We brought a sub lunch and ate at the picnic tables prior to our boat launch. It was a perfect addition to our adventure, offering a mix of relaxation and exploration.
Our glamping adventure at Enchanted Oaks Farm in Ocala, FL, provided the ideal prelude to our upcoming move to South Carolina. Surrounded by farm animals, nature's beauty, and the serenity of the lake, we embraced the enchantment of the moment and created cherished memories. Despite its small challenges, the experience was a delightful reminder of the simple joys in life. As we bid farewell to Florida, we carried the magic of our glamping adventure in our hearts, filling us with excitement for the new journey that awaited us.
Things we want to bring to Glamp GVL:
Nice bathroom facility - we may not have full running toilets (at first) but the facilities will be clean, spacious, and give you the ability to still have some comforts from home
Social media worthy photo opportunities - we want a place that is not only beautiful in person but also makes for great social media photos
Fun outdoor activities close by - we want to choose an area where outdoor activities are close by as well as breweries, food, and nightlife if that is what you are looking for
Things we strive to stay away from:
Busy streets / highways - when we find the land that we want to put our glamping structure on, we hopefully will be far enough away from the busy streets / highways so there is not any residual noise other than the sounds of nature
Heating and cooling - our structure may not have electricity at first, but we have future plans to bring in electricity in order to have heating and cooling in each tent but also additional items like a small refrigerator
